ORMATU 2001    The Future Machine

Maybe it's not the most shocking find of the year (2000) but to some people out there it's at least interesting to know that there is another (not that there weren't enough already) clone of the Emerson Arcadia 2001. Since this version is completely supported with Dutch manuals en game instructions it's save to assume that it was produced for the Netherlands and Belgium.

Although some of the keywords on the machine and in the manuals are in English it doesn't mean that this system is a straight port of another machine, it's common practice to 'leave' some of the text in English as this boosts the technological and international look of the machine.

The fact that it's a clone of the Emerson Arcadia 2001 is based on several observations;

a) The screenshot of the bowling game is an exact match with the famous screenshot of the Arcadia game,

b) The inclusion of 2001 in the machine's name is a strong hint,

c) The manual states a 6K memory as it's strongest point, just like the Arcadia 2001,

d) The controllers are hardwired and designed to be used with game overlays, just like the Arcadia 2001,

Just look at the scans and judge for yourself! (the scans are linked off-site, so a bit of a slow start is possible!) To get an idea of the size of the system I've taken pictures of it and the games next to an intellivision and intellivision games.
